The accommodation set-up is distinctive and consists of two buildings, the Mud-brick Cabin and the Studio.
The Mud-brick Cabin was made of recycled materials amassed from friends or demolition sites around Adelaide. The mud bricks were all handmade on-site and the structure was erected during the 1980’s.
Power comes from a solar panel, water from the roof into a rain water tank and wood sourced from the surrounding land for the pot- belly stove all serve to make this a homely, rustic and eco-friendly space.
The manner in which the Mud-brick Cabin, in particular, has been painted and decorated can only be described as idiosyncratic. Well known local artist, Judy Brooks decorated the floor by painting Frida Kahlo inspired reproductions.
The walls are also painted in the vibrant colours reminiscent of Kahlo’s house in Mexico City.
There are treasured memorabilia sourced locally or brought back from trips around the world. All this adds to the atmosphere of a one-of-a-kind place and a rustic but cosy cabin that has been well used and loved by its owners.
