What to expect

Embark on a 3000-kilometre journey between Adelaide and Darwin, from the chilly Southern Ocean to the steamy Arafura Sea, across our magnificent outback. Add a trip to two iconic national parks and you’ve got a truly legendary journey.

This eight-day, seven-night adventure starts with an epic two-night train journey on The Ghan, immersing you in the rust-red scenery of the outback. Onboard, relax in the train’s Explorer Lounge or Art Deco-inspired Queen Adelaide Restaurant, then step off to enjoy a stunning sunset at Marla in the South Australian outback. You’ll also explore Alice Springs, and cruise Katherine (Nitmiluk) Gorge.

Get acquainted with Darwin, which has transformed in recent years to become a lively, confident, multicultural city. Enjoy a half-day city sights tour and sunset harbour cruise, then spend the rest of your time strolling through fascinating museums and bustling markets.

You’ll also tour Litchfield National Park, known for its spectacular waterfalls and Kakadu National Park, where you’ll encounter classic Northern Territory scenery, outstanding rock art and plenty of wildlife including saltwater crocodiles.
