What to expect

Departing Adelaide, travel through the Red Centre, experiencing Australia at its dramatic best on a three-day rail journey on The Ghan, and finish up with a night in Darwin to check out the fun and lively city.

Watch the landscape change from verdant greens to arid plans, where the colours of the outback saturate the landscape. Stop in Marla, Alice Springs and Katherine to learn about the history, culture, natural beauty and significance of each remote outpost as you travel on this legendary train.

Enjoy a two-night stay in Darwin, such a vibrant place with its laid-back vibe, amazing sunsets, and unique culture. The sunsets there are legendary, with the colours lighting up the sky over the ocean – perfect for a relaxing evening. And the Mindil Beach Sunset Markets are a must-see, with delicious food, local art, and live entertainment.

With beautiful views of the Top End city, there is no better way to experience Darwin’s renowned sunsets than on board the Charles Darwin. Change requests permitted up to 90 days prior to commencement of the Journey, with a change fee of $250pp. If booked more than 60 days prior to commencement of the Journey, eligible for a full refund provided cancellation is received within 14 days of us issuing your Booking Confirmation. 100% cancellation fees apply if cancelled more than 14 days after we have issued your Booking Confirmation.
