For 13 days, explore New Zealand and experience the excitement and entertainment of the Warbirds Over Wanaka Airshow. During Easter 2024, Wanaka will host New Zealand’s biggest aviation event, where you’ll get the chance to see classic aircrafts, famous warbirds and modern jets as they present a feast of aviation action. As well as experiencing an amazing airshow, you’ll get to soak up aviation related activities and the scenic beauty of New Zealand.
In Christchurch you’ll visit the Air Force Museum of New Zealand for a ‘behind the scenes’ tour which showcases the restoration projects in action. You’ll also have a rare opportunity to climb inside a Bristol Freighter aircraft. Next, you’ll travel south to Oamaru, famous for its Limestone, before arriving into Dunedin for an informative city tour. You’ll travel to Mandeville Airfield to visit the Croydon Aviation Heritage Centre, where there are aircrafts mostly from the 1920s and 1930s and the largest collection of de Havilland aircraft in the southern hemisphere. You’ll then continue to Te Anau, the gateway to Fiordland and Milford Sound. See the snow-capped peaks of the Southern Alps as you travel North through Queenstown and experience a scenic flight over the spectacular glaciers before continuing to Franz Josef.
Wanaka is the most spectacular venue in the world to host New Zealand’s biggest aviation event. Nestled on the shores of an azure blue lake amongst the mighty peaks of the Southern Alps, the natural amphitheatre created by these mountains provides a backdrop of stunning scenery.
