Sacred to the traditional landowners, the Anangu people, the traditional landowners, Uluru is one of our country’s most recognisable natural landmarks. Towering 348m above the surrounding landscape, Uluru or Ayer’s Rock is the largest monolith on our planet. The area around Uluru is home to an abundance of springs, rock vases, water holes and rock paintings of cultural significance. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Uluru, and neighbouring Kata Tjuta, also known as the Olgas, are two natural attractions of the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. Covering some 20 square kilometres, Kata Tjuta comprises 36 domes, soaring up to 546 metres and forming deep valleys and steep-sided gorges. During your stay in Uluru, embark on a tour with Patji, an Aboriginal guided tour that exposes more than just the tourist side of the rock. Furthermore, create a dot painting masterpiece at a fun and engaging workshop. You’ll be taught by a local Anangu artist about the intricacies of traditional Aboriginal art, symbols, tools used and more.
