Itinerary

Our first stop is the quirky town of Gumeracha, where you'll meet one of Australia's most beloved big things — the Big Rocking Horse. Towering above the trees, it’s a great way to kick off the day with some light-hearted fun and a few memorable photos. Feeling energetic? For just $2, you can climb to the top for panoramic views over the countryside. There’s also the option to visit the adjoining wildlife park, where you can hand-feed friendly kangaroos and wallabies — a favourite for locals and visitors alike. If you need a morning coffee or a quick bite to eat, this is the perfect place to fuel up before the Barossa calls.
From there, we head to the Whispering Wall at Barossa Reservoir — an acoustic marvel where whispers travel more than 100 metres across the curve of the dam wall. It’s one of those unexpected stops that really leaves a lasting impression.
Then it’s time for wine! Our first tasting is at Kies Family Wines__, a family-owned and operated cellar door that’s as charming as it is passionate about sustainability. Their wines speak for themselves — beautifully crafted and award-winning — and their off-grid operation makes the visit even more impressive. After tasting your way through their collection, we continue to __Mengler’s Hill Lookout, where the sweeping views across the Barossa offer a real sense of just how special this wine region is.
Next, we arrive at Lambert Estate, where you’ll be treated to a guided wine tasting followed by a delicious lunch of gourmet wood-fired pizzas, served share-style in the centre of the table. It’s a relaxed and social way to enjoy lunch, surrounded by the beauty of the Barossa and great conversation with your fellow travellers.
After lunch, it’s time for something sweet with a visit to Melba’s Chocolate Factory, where you can browse shelves of handmade chocolates, nostalgic sweets, and local treats. Whether you're picking up a gift or indulging in a little something for yourself, it's a fun and flavourful stop.
Then we head over to Rehn Bier Brewhouse, a boutique Barossa brewery known for its small-batch, locally crafted beers. You’ll enjoy a guided tasting of their latest releases — a great way to reset the palate after all that wine and experience a different side of the region’s food and drink scene.
Our final stop is the delightful town of Tanunda, where you’ll have 45 minutes of free time to explore at your own pace. You might like to grab a coffee, browse the boutique shops, treat yourself to an ice cream, or simply relax and soak up the charming Barossa atmosphere. Whether you’re winding down the day with a quiet moment or picking up a local souvenir, it’s a perfect way to end your Barossa experience.
We then make our way back to Adelaide, arriving around 5:30pm, with full bellies, happy memories, and a taste of the Barossa that’s hard to beat.
