What to expect
Share in a piece of Victoria’s history with an iconic railway journey through the Dandenong Ranges on the Puffing Billy steam train. The scenic journey will take passengers through the tranquil rainforest, fern gullies and towering Mountain Ash trees along a 24 km track from Belgrave to Gembrook and back.
Feel the wind in your hair as you cruise through the ranges on the open carriage railway while you take in the sights and listen to commentary about the local region. This is an experience for the children, parents, grandparents and railway enthusiasts who will all love taking a ride through Victoria’s history.
Fancy a shorter trip? Why not jump off half way at Lakeside and explore the area. Or meet the train at Lakeside to travel the last leg of the journey to Gembrook!

Important Traveller Information
- If you are travelling in a wheelchair, there are limited wheelchair spaces available onboard our heritage carriages. Please call Puffing Billy’s Customer Service Centre prior to travelling so that we can assist you in accommodating your needs. Operator details will be listed on voucher received following purchase
- Due to the heritage nature of the carriages, it is recommended that you bring a folding or narrow pram
- Guide/Assistant dogs are the only dogs permitted on the train.

- Parking is available in the Belgrave Metro Station Car Park which features 640 car parking spaces and 16 accessible car parking spots and is located just minutes from our Belgrave station. Enter via Belgrave-Hallam Road/Bayview Road/Old Monbulk Road Roundabout in Belgrave. People with accessibility requirements can use the drop-off zone at Gate 4.
