What to expect

The Ghan Expedition lives up to its name as one of the world’s greatest rail journeys. During an extended itinerary from Darwin to Adelaide, The Ghan delivers an unforgettable trip lasting four days and three nights, balancing comfort with adventure.

Onboard, indulge in an all-inclusive regionally inspired menu, a selection of local wines, elegant private cabins, attentive service, and the camaraderie of your fellow travellers.

Hop off The Ghan and explore Katherine, spend the day cruising along the idyllic Nitmiluk Gorge and learn about the significance of the area to its traditional owners – the Jawoyn people.

In Alice Springs, discover the surrounding nature of the Red Centre and indulge in a unique dining experience at the Alice Springs Telegraph Station under a blanket of outback stars.

Indulge in a nightcap around a bonfire at Manguri and take the rare opportunity to observe the outback’s pitch-black sky unsullied by man-made light.
