What to expect

Immerse yourself in the atmosphere of Australia’s lonesome, rust-red outback on a 3000-kilometre journey between Adelaide and Darwin.

On this two-night, three-day adventure aboard The Ghan train, you’ll see staggering landscapes without having to concentrate on the road or be bothered by heat and dust.

Simply kick back in the Outback Explorer Lounge or Art Deco-inspired Queen Adelaide Restaurant, and watch Australia unfold before your eyes.

Take your pick from a range of exceptional Off-Train Experiences in iconic Northern Territory landscapes and settlements. In Alice Springs, take an outback camel ride, tour the town or visit the historic Telegraph Station.

Stop in Katherine where you’ll the cruise famous Katherine (Nitmiluk) Gorge, which is framed by rugged red cliffs and dotted with indigenous rock art.

If you’re heading north, you’ll have the chance to experience a stunning outback sunrise at Marla, deep in the South Australian outback. Travelling south? Enjoy the sight of stunning outback stars at Manguri near Coober Pedy on this journey of a lifetime.
