Take an in-depth journey back in time to the ancient cities of Egypt and Jordan. On this 19-day tour, you’ll explore bustling Cairo, cruise down the Nile, float in the salt-drenched Dead Sea and discover the wonders of Petra.
Beginning in Amman, Jordan’s vibrant capital, you’ll visit the amazing Amman Citadel and magnificent Roman theatre before touring Jerash – one of the most beautiful and well-preserved Greco-Roman cities in existence.
You’ll then immerse yourself in one of the lowest points on Earth – the Dead Sea. The Dead Sea is devoid of life due to its extremely high salt and mineral content. But it’s these salts and minerals that give the Dead Sea its unique therapeutic qualities and famous buoyancy.
Located in Jordan’s southwestern desert, Petra is one of the world’s most famous archaeological sites. Tour the city and learn about how it was carved into the sheer rockface by the Nabataeans more than 2,000 years ago. Attracting visitors from all over the world, much of Petra’s appeal comes from its breathtaking setting, deep inside a narrow desert gorge.
In Egypt, your tour begins in the capital of Cairo, set on the Nile River and home to many famous Egyptian landmarks. Visit Giza to see one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World – the Great Pyramids of Giza, as well as the nearby Great Sphinx. You’ll then visit the 12th century Saladin Citadel of Cairo and the Mohammed Ali Mosque. Built in classic Turkish style, it resembles the great mosques of Istanbul.
One of the highlights of this tour is a cruise along the Nile onboard a traditional felucca sailboat. You’ll also travel by boat to the city of Aswan. Visit the High Dam, the picturesque Philae Temple on Agilkia Island and the Unfinished Obelisk.
