Experience two of New Zealand’s great train journeys on this exciting 10 day itinerary that combines the comfort of rail travel with the freedom of driving.
In Christchurch, it’s all aboard the Coastal Pacific Train. You’ll meander past secluded bays and take in breathtaking Pacific Ocean views on this journey to the Marlborough Wine Region (Blenheim).
With 6 days of car hire included to journey from Blenheim to Greymouth, you’ll have plenty of time to appreciate the South Island’s magnificent scenery at your own pace. Along that journey, a trip to Abel Tasman National Park is simply a must. Best seen by foot or by kayak, you’ll quickly discover why this is New Zealand’s most visited national park.
Your journey ends just as it started – aboard the train. This time though, it’s really special. Traversing the island from west to east, the TranzAlpine train will take you through lush rainforests before climbing to the Alpine Village of Arthurs Pass for a short break. From there, you’ll descend through spectacular gorges and Waimakariri River valleys before you arrive back in charming Christchurch. It’s sure to be a journey that you’ll never forget.
