with local guides who bring to life the layered
history of this remote, culturally significant
corner of Rakiura Stewart Island.
Cruise along the coastline from Oban to Oneke, where
this small-group, guided walk begins. Explore coastal
and native bush trails with local guides sharing stories
of Rakiura Māori and European history, early settlement
and connections to the land. Experience native wildlife
learn about traditional plant use, and witness ongoing
conservation and restoration efforts, all framed by a
formal whakatau (Māori welcome) at the start of the
journey.
